Travel Highlights of 2018

It’s strange to think this year is coming to an end. Without a doubt, 2018 has been the year I’ve focused on what I want out of life and since the year is ending, I want to reflect on the memories I’ve made. These are in order from most recent to the beginning of the year just because I love the taking me back in time feel it gives me.

Since it wasn’t until mid-2018 that I started my blog a good amount of my travels haven’t been documented on here. But with December being 31 days of blogging, I’ll be talking a lot about my travels throughout this month! I hope you enjoy my holiday series as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it, but with that let’s start!

Paris, France (October 2018)

Paris was an unexpected trip to end off the year as I was emailed a deal with wow air for a roundtrip ticket at $260. My friend Amy and I jumped on it and spent 11 wonderful days exploring the Palace of Versaille, Eiffel Tower, and so much more.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (September 2018)

A summer isn’t complete without a road trip, so Amy and I made out a way to Philadelphia. The Liberty Bell, Eastern State Penitentiary, and an Ed Sheeran concert kept us on our toys before heading back home.

Spain (July – August 2018)

I started my time in Spain in July and stayed until the end of August as an Au Pair for 2 of the sweetest Spanish girls in existence. The family was amazing, the food was delicious, and the culture in the south of Spain is incomparable to anywhere else I’ve ever been. I spent most of my time around Marbella and Malaga but spent time in Madrid as well.

Reykjavik, Iceland (July)

With cheap flights comes long layovers, and that is why I spent only 24 hours in Iceland before making my way to Spain. I wrote an entire post about what I did in Iceland, which wasn’t much because of the jetlag and airport commute but I plan on going back within the next few years as I want to drive through the country and see the northern lights.

Ireland & Northern Ireland (May 2018)

Ireland was a dream trip for me that I’ve been planning since I was 16. I can’t explain why I felt this pull towards Ireland but after all these years I bought a ticket. I spent two weeks traveling by train around Ireland and met some of the nicest people.

I made friends that I still talk to today and I hope to go back next year as I fell in love with the country.

A Lil’ extra: The Start of My Travel Love

Technically I only traveled to the locations above in 2018, but the end of 2017 was the start of my solo travel addiction so I wanted to mention it in this post because I’ve never really spoken on my first solo travel experience and I want to.

Seattle, Washington (December 2017)

I never technically planned on traveling alone, I always thought I had to wait to travel with someone but when the person I was planning to go to Seattle bailed at the last minute, I went. I didn’t want to waste the money that was invested and part of me knew I could do it.

So I flew to Seattle and my entire life changed in that one week. I learned how to rely on myself and I haven’t looked back since. Seattle now holds a special place in my heart, and I hope to return at some point as I wouldn’t be here writing on this blog if it wasn’t for that trip to Seattle.

I have no idea what is in store for me in 2019, but I can’t be more thankful for how 2018 has wrapped up for me. I’m ending the year with great friends, loving family, and so many beautiful memories. I wouldn’t change a single thing as it all lead me to here.

I was motivated by so many people to start this blog, and I’m happy it’s a reality now as I’m able to share some of my fondest memories with people like you. I know when I was starting to travel I researched and read blogs from people like myself because I wanted to know that people like me could dream bigger than the town I was raised in.

Until Next Time,
